RANSACK

Ransack

Project Ransack is a multiplayer 3 vs 3 stealth game set in a futuristic museum, where Thieves steal artefacts while evading Security Officers . Thieves rely on stealth and gadgets, while Security uses advanced tech to detect and incapacitate them. The game emphasises strategic teamwork and gadget use to achieve objectives within a time limit. The game is still in a prototype state.

My Tasks

Game Design

Characters, Camera, Controls

The dual perspective of third-person Thieves and first-person Security in Project Ransack adds complexity by requiring players to adapt to contrasting gameplay styles, enhancing strategic depth and immersion.

Characters

Designing an asymmetric game like Project Ransack, where one team plays in first-person (Security) and the other in third-person (Thieves), adds a layer of complexity. Balancing visibility, movement mechanics, and unique abilities between perspectives ensures fairness while maintaining distinct playstyles. Each faction must feel equally engaging, with their strengths and weaknesses carefully tuned to create dynamic and strategic gameplay.

Tech Art

Visions

I was responsible for designing and implementing the unique vision modes for both teams in Project Ransack, ensuring that each team's mode provided a distinct strategic advantage to enhance gameplay dynamics.

The Thieves' night vision enhances stealth by revealing hidden paths and dark areas, with a limited range but no cooldown, empowering players to outmaneuver Security under the cover of darkness.

The Security's motion vision detects movement across a long range, but its use is balanced by a limited cooldown, requiring strategic activation to outsmart the Thieves.
